Plaza de España is an important central square in Madrid, at the intersection of Gran Vía and Princesa boulevards. The square can easily be found since Madrid’s two oldest and most iconic skyscrapers are situated here.

A monument to Miguel de Cervantes sits in the center of Plaza de España. His most popular characters – Don Quijote and Sancho Panza riding in front of the column are one of the most popular selfie spots in Madrid.

The northwest corner of the plaza is the entrance to the Parque del Oeste and the unique Debod temple. To the southeast are the Sabatini Gardens, part of the Royal Palace complex.

Some of Madrid’s most famous cinema theaters can be found around the square.

Plaza de España is also an important public transportation hub.
